Extract PDF Pages

Pull the pages you need out of a PDF and save them as a new, smaller document. Type the pages as a list, such as 1-3, 5, 8-, and download the result. The original is never changed and nothing leaves your device.

PDF only, up to 200 MB. One file at a time.

Your files stay in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, saved or logged.

How Extract PDF Pages works

The PDF is opened in a background process of your browser. A new document is created and the pages you listed are copied into it, one by one, in the order you typed them. Pages are copied, not redrawn, so text stays selectable and images keep their original quality.

Because you choose the order, the tool also reorders and repeats pages: 5, 1-2 produces a PDF whose pages are the original 5, 1 and 2, and 3, 3 gives page 3 twice. For several separate files at once, or to cut a document at regular intervals, use Split PDF instead.

Only the pages you keep are written to the new file, so extracting a few pages from a large document gives a much smaller file. Document-level features such as bookmarks and form data belong to the whole original and are not carried over.

How to use it

  1. Select a PDF file, or drop it on the area at the top of the tool.
  2. Type the pages to keep. Write a page as 5, a range as 2-6 and “to the last page” as 8-, separated by commas.
  3. Check the page count the tool announces, then choose Extract pages.
  4. Download the new PDF. Choose Change the options to extract different pages from the same file.

Example

How the tool reads what you type, for a document of 12 pages.
Pages typedWhat you get
2, 5-7New PDF of 4 pages: original pages 2, 5–7
9-New PDF of 4 pages: original pages 9–12
3, 1New PDF of 2 pages: original pages 3, 1
5-2“5-2” runs backwards. Write it as 2-5.
0“0”: page numbers start at 1.

Limits and good to know

  • The PDF can be up to 200 MB. The whole document is held in your device’s memory while it works.
  • Password-protected PDFs and PDFs with editing restrictions cannot be processed. Remove the protection first, which requires the password.
  • Bookmarks, form data and links that jump to another page of the same file may not be carried over to the new document.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write the pages to extract?

Separate items with commas. A single page is 5, a range is 2-6, and everything from a page to the end is 8-. For example 1-3, 5, 8- keeps pages 1 to 3, page 5 and page 8 to the last page. Spaces are ignored, and a page that does not exist, or a backwards range such as 5-2, is reported before anything runs.

Does extracting change or damage the original?

No. The original file is only read. The extracted pages are copied into a new document that you download, and the file on your device stays exactly as it was.

Can I extract the pages in a different order?

Yes. Pages appear in the new PDF in the order you type them, so 4, 2, 1 gives a three-page document made of the original pages 4, 2 and 1. The same page can be listed more than once.

What is the difference between Extract and Split?

Extract produces one PDF with the pages you name. Split can cut a document into several PDFs, by page ranges or every few pages, and delivers them in a ZIP file. If you only need one new document, Extract is the shorter route.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The document is opened and copied by your own browser and nothing is sent anywhere. You can verify it in your browser’s developer tools: the Network tab shows no upload while you extract.
